Isn’t there a hidden meaning to this article, like everything else these days?
They’re talking about protecting children, but in the background, I read a desire to „scan” and monitor all users by taking photos of their faces or documents.
People, persuaded by a potentially good reason, will start to give up their rights.
Convincing people to embrace Digital ID didn’t yield the results the „governing” people expected, so they decided to approach the issue from a different angle and play on people’s emotions, primarily fear for their own offspring.
In my opinion, anyone who still has a relatively simple „moral spine” after the implementation of this „law” will be abandoning social media.
This will also benefit the „governing” people, because in addition to „junk” news, which is currently primarily shared on social media, it is precisely those „woke” who use these forms of communication to connect and disseminate important and truthful information that doesn’t suit those „at the trough.”
Plans are expected to be presented around July 2026, and according to the article, they are expected to be implemented in early 2027.
What is the future of this project?
I suspect that most of us will switch to other similar services, far from the „meta,” and Facebook will follow a course similar to that taken by the Polish service „Nasza Klasa” (Our Class) long ago.
This service was created in 2006 and quickly attracted users with its interesting concept. After a brief success, it was sold (in 2007, with a majority stake) to companies that stuffed it with games and ads. The service no longer exists, having been shut down on July 27, 2021.
Facebook’s demise won’t be as spectacularly rapid and its path of decline is impossible to forecast, as the younger generation is born with it „glued to their hands”.
